The Dementia Research Community is managed by a voluntary committee, who are passionate about raising awareness of dementia. We donate our time and are not financially remunerated for the work we do.
Dementia Research Community is a registered charity
We comply with strict regulatory and governance obligations. We take these responsibilities very seriously and are committed to best practice levels of transparency, accountability and governance.
Founded in 2016 to organise the inaugural Bondi2Berry Ride to Remember, we have grown in stature and formed the Dementia Research Community, as a not for profit organisation and attained Deductable Gift Registry status in 2022.
Our Mission
The Dementia Research Community mission is to increase understanding of, and help find a cure for dementia. We are a charity whose purpose is to advance health and increase awareness of dementia by:
- Organising large scale events that improve community health and well-being through participation.
- Raising money to fund dementia specific research projects.
- Advocating for and communicating dementia related information to educate the community about the disease.
- Organising community events and school visits that encourage conversations about dementia.
Our Fundraising
Our mission is to not only raise awareness of dementia, but funds for vital research. To date, we’ve been fortunate enough to support 13 research grants.
We appreciate every single donation received, and we ensure that every dollar goes to where it is needed most. As a voluntary not for profit organisation, we commit to a minimum 90% of our fundraising (less transaction and associated fees) being allocated to fund research projects to help find a cure for dementia.

We report on all our work, and our Annual Information Statement and Financial Report will be available at the conclusion of our financial year as per ACNC requirements.
